Argemiro Escobar is the brother of Pablo Escobar and Roberto Escobar and the son of Hermilda de los Dolores Gaviria Berrío, a teacher, and Abel de Jesús Escobar Echeverri, a farmer. Argemiro’s date of birth is unknown. He was born in Colombia and is one of the seven children his parents gave birth to. He has six siblings, including Pablo and Roberto.

Argemiro Escobar’s other siblings are Luis Fernando Escobar, Alba Marina Escobar, Luz María Escobar, and Gloria Inés Escobar. His brother Roberto Escobar was also involved with the Medellín Cartel as an accountant and co-founder. The Medellín Cartel was regarded as a powerful and highly organized Colombian drug cartel and a terrorist organization.

The organization was involved in criminal activities including drug trafficking, assassinations, extortion, terrorism, arms trafficking, bombing, intimidation, kidnapping, and money laundering. Pablo Escobar was also involved in philanthropy. He was responsible for community projects such as the construction of houses and football fields.

Both Pablo Escobar, who was also known as “the king of cocaine” and Roberto Escobar who was also known as El Osito (“the little teddy bear”) were arrested in 1991. They were able to escape in July 1992. Roberto surrendered to authorities a year later but Pablo went into hiding. After spending more than 10 years in prison, Roberto was released in 2006.


On 2 December 1993, Pablo was found in a house in a middle-class residential area of Medellin by Colombian special forces using technology provided by the United States. Pablo Escobar was shot and killed while trying to escape from the roof. Roberto Escobar believes that his brother Pablo didn’t get killed.

To Roberto, Pablo killed himself. Roberto said: “I know he didn’t get killed, but he killed himself, with a bullet on his head. When things were going too bad for Pablo, he understood that he couldn’t escape forever, so he decided rather have a grave in Colombia than jail in the States.”
