Martin Konigsberg passed away on January 8, 2001, in New York, United States. He was 100 years old at the time of his death. The cause of his death has not been revealed by the family. ”My father is a classic example of a guy who smoked two packs a day since he was 16,” Allen Woody, was quoted as saying in The Daily News on the Sunday of his father’s death according to the Newyorktimes. ”Eats two eggs for breakfast and meat for dinner seven days a week, dishes of ice cream before bed at night.”

Along with his son Woody, Martin Konigsberg was survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Nettie Konigsberg; his daughter, the film producer Letty Aronson; eight grandchildren including – Ronan Farrow, Manzie Tio Allen, Bechet Allen, and Moses Farrow; and two great-grandchildren.
