Per fandom.com, he was arrested for helping his brother Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán in selling drugs, and the United States demanded his extradition. He was charged with the promotion, production, trafficking, and extraction of drugs from Mexico to the United States.
Arturo Guzmán Loera was accused of creating a 60-meter drug tunnel built for drug smuggling on the border between Tijuana and San Ysidro. He was murdered with a pistol, shot seven times. He was killed by the Juarez Cartel in retaliation for the murder of Rodolfo Carrillo Fuentes, with Rodolfo’s brother Vicente Carrillo Fuentes ordering the hit. He died on 31 December 2004.
