Yun Chi Chung was born in 1942 in Korea. She is 81 years old as of 2023. She gained much of her fame because of her marriage to the actor and comedian. She is not the first woman Foxx took to the altar. He has been married four times in his life times and Chung is the third woman.

Redd Foxx’s first marriage was to Evelyn Killebrew in 1948 and ended in divorce in 1951. On July 5, 1956, Foxx married his second wife, Betty Jean Harris, a showgirl, and dancer, who was a colleague of LaWanda Page (later to be Foxx’s TV rival Aunt Esther on Sanford and Son).

The couple first met at a nightclub where they were appearing on the same bill. As per their agreement, before they tied the knot, Harris gave up her career in show business to become a full-time housewife. Foxx adopted Harris’s nine-year-old daughter Debraca, who assumed the surname “Foxx.” Harris handled most of Foxx’s business ventures such as Redd Foxx Enterprises, which included a chain of record stores in Los Angeles.

The couple separated in 1974 due to Foxx’s infidelity. After 18 years of marriage, Foxx filed for divorce on the grounds of incompatibility in May 1974. He also obtained a restraining order that prevented Harris from “removing, hiding or secreting property” from their home in Las Vegas, and she had to return $110,000 that was removed from bank accounts. Foxx was absent from Debraca’s wedding in 1975.

According to sources, Foxx met Joi, who was 20 years his junior, when she was a cocktail waitress at the Las Vegas Hilton, shortly after her arrival from Korea. Redd was 54 years old while she was 34 years. The pair fell in love and started dating. The couple tied the knot in a beautiful wedding ceremony at the Thunderbird Hotel in Las Vegas on December 31, 1976, in the presence of their friends, families, and loved ones.

The cute couple has been seen together at various public events together. The couple visited and took pictures with his wax statues on display at the Stars Hall of Fame attraction in Orlando. They also attended the rehearsals for Jimmy Carter’s Inaugural Gala on January 18, 1977, in Washington, D.C. together.

Foxx once noted that his wife was a great artist, adding that she once painted a bird sitting on the branch of a tree, and it was fantastic. Joi introduced her beau to Korean food and her beautiful paintings. The couple lived in a home furnished and decorated in Korean style. Yun Chi Chung, as said earlier is originally from Korea, opted for cushions, an elbow mat, and a low table for serving tea in place of chairs.

The couple stayed married for only three years. Foxx filed for divorce in October 1979. Yun Chi Chung also responded with her own divorce suit charging him with cruelty. She alleged that her husband hit her with a gun and stopped her from eating her native dishes. He stated that if he could give up neckbones and black-eye peas, Joi could give up Kimchi.

During their divorce proceedings, Foxx revealed to Jet magazine: “I’ve been married three times and I’m out.” He added: “I’d rather have kids because when I give up all this money on divorce, it should go to the children and not some guy.”

Their divorce was finalized in 1981; Foxx paid a $300,000 divorce settlement. In July 1991, Foxx wed Kaho Cho from Seoul, South Korea. They met at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Despite denouncing marriage after his third divorce.

Their happiness was cut short on October 11, 1991, when Foxx died shortly after suffering a heart attack on the set of his last TV show, “The Royal Family.” He died at the age of 68.
