Previously, Matilda Kent Tarleton was married to Byron John Barker. Matilda and Byron John Barker were the parents of Robert William Barker ( Bob Barker). Byron was the foreman of the electrical high line through the state of Washington. Byron was killed in a work-related accident at the age of 42 after falling from a utility pole and died from his injuries.

Kent Valandra’s brother Bob Barker was accused of sexual harassment. Former model and actress Dian Parkinson had filed a lawsuit against Bob. Dian and Bob had hooked up, they allegedly had a three-year affair. Dian accused Bob of sexual harassment adding that she was extorted by threats of firing.
Dian Parkinson later dropped her lawsuit, claiming the stress from the ordeal was damaging her health.
