Karl Soderlund was the husband of former tabloid talk show host Sally Lowenthal also known as Sally Jessy Raphael. Karl’s wife is best known for her show, The Sally Jessy Raphael Show, which was later shortened to Sally. The hit show ran for nearly 20 years until 2002. Sally has become a household name.

Karl Soderlund was born on 12 March 1930, in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota, USA. He was of Norwegian descent. He was reportedly a Korean War veteran with the Air Force Radio Service (AFRS). He is known for Bandit: Beauty and the Bandit (1994).
Karl Soderlund married Sally Jessy Raphael in 1962 after they met in Puerto Rico. They loved each other and enjoyed a blissful married life. Karl even became his wife Sally’s manager. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Jason Soderlund, who was adopted.
Sally once revealed, “He and I worked together every day of our lives…Sometimes when I couldn’t get a job, he would take a temporary job.”
“He’s romantic, he has great taste, he’s funny, funny. He’s very Scandinavian,” she gushed before joking. “That’s not always good. Read that to mean stubborn, but he was the right husband for me.”
Karl Soderlund and Sally Jessy Raphael were married for 58 years up until Karl died in 2020. Meanwhile, Karl was not the first man Sally married. She had already walked down the aisle once before marrying her late husband Karl Soderlund.
Sally Jessy Raphael married her first husband Andrew Vladimir. They got married in 1953 when Sally was 18 years. They had two daughters, Allison Vladimir and Andrea Vladimir. Allison died on February 2, 1992, at age 33, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA.

Allison Vladimir’s death was ruled an accidental overdose because of the “combined effects of several prescribed drugs”. According to reports, ″There is no evidence here that Miss Vladimir intended to end her own life″. Allison was found unresponsive by a friend.
Efforts that were made to revive Allison failed and she was later pronounced dead. However, Sally Jessy Raphael and Andrew Vladimir divorced after five years of marriage, in 1958.

Karl Soderlund died on August 6, 2020, at age 90, from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. His wife Sally Jessy Raphael mostly spent her time looking after her sick husband, Karl Soderlund, who had both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

Karl Soderlund’s condition deteriorated and he passed away. He battle with Alzheimer’s disease for a long time. He died at their farm in Dutchess County, New York. According to reports, ‘Karl produced all 30 years of Sally’s radio show and all of the TV shows she fronted in Puerto Rico and Miami.’

‘He was a kind man who was an avid cyclist, sailor, and fly fisherman. ‘In fact, Sally introduced him to fly fishing and they enjoyed doing it together in Lyme, Connecticut.’ Back then on Karl Soderlund’s 90th birthday, Sally took to her Twitter page and wrote:
“When I married Karl, he was 5 years my senior. Somehow, over 60 years, my Peter Pan husband has remained forever young and handsome! Happy 90th birthday to the love of my life – so glad we can finally be together with loved ones to celebrate your amazing life!”
