Who was Carlo Ponti?
Giuliana Fiastri gained much of her fame from being the wife of the popular film producer Carlo Ponti. Carlo was born on 11 December 1912 in Magenta, Lombardy, where his grandfather had been mayor of the city. The age and place of birth of Giuliana Fiastri are currently unknown.
Carlo Ponti and her wife Giuliana got married in 1946. They got married in a beautiful wedding ceremony in the presence of their friends, family, and loved ones. In 1951, the couple had their first child, a girl who was named Guendalina Ponti, and in 1953 they once again had a son who they named Alex Ponti.
After being married for about a decade Ponti obtained a Mexican divorce from his first wife Giuliana and married Sophia Loren by proxy. Divorce was still forbidden in Italy, and he was informed that were he to return there, he would be charged with bigamy, and Loren would be charged with “concubinage”.

In 1960, Giuliana Fiastri’s ex-husband and his new bride Loren returned to Italy. The couple were summoned to court but they denied being married. In 1962, Ponti and Loren had the marriage annulled, after which Ponti arranged with Giuliana, that the three of them move to France (which at that time allowed divorce) and become French citizens.
In 1965, Giuliana Ponti divorced her Ponti which allowed him to get married to Loren in 1966 at a civil wedding in Sèvres. Giuliana and Ponti were married for 19 years before calling their marriage a quit. Ponti and his new wife Loren had two children, Carlo Ponti Jr., born on 29 December 1968, and Edoardo Ponti, born on 6 January 1973.

What happened to Carlo Ponti’s ex-wife?
After her marriage to the film producer came to an end, Giuliana Ponti went totally out of the limelight. She has not made any headlines or the news in recent times. It is unclear whether she is still alive in 2023. Giuliana’s ex-husband, Ponti died in Geneva, Switzerland, from pulmonary complications on 10 January 2007.
The film producer was survived by his daughter Guendalina (b. 1951), and his son Alessandro (b. 1953) from his first marriage to Giuliana; and by his second wife, Sophia Loren, and their sons Carlo (b. 1968) and Edoardo Ponti (b. 1973).
