Isotta Rossellini was born Isotta Ingrid Frieda Giuliana Rossellini on 18 June 1952, in Rome, Italy. She is 71 years old. She is the daughter of Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman and Italian film director, screenwriter, and producer Roberto Rossellini. She has an older brother Renato Roberto Ranaldo Giusto Giuseppe (“Robin”) Rossellini (b. 2 February 1950) and a twin sister Isabella Fiorella Elettra Giovanna Rossellini (b. 18 June 1952).
Isotta also has a half-sister Friedel Pia Lindström (b. 20 September 1938) from her mother’s side. She has four half-siblings from her father’s side: Marco Romano Rossellini (b. 3 July 1937, died of appendicitis in 1946), Renzo Rossellini (b. 24 August 1941), Gil Rossellini (23 October 1956 – 3 October 2010), and Raffaella Rossellini (b. 1958). Isotta is close to her siblings especially her twin sister Isabella Rossellini.
Isotta Rossellini has said of her childhood: “It was not an easy childhood, but I think we understood: both mama and father had a very special life.” She is a well-educated person. She was educated in Rome. She graduated from Columbia University, where she obtained her doctorate. She received a BA, master’s, and Ph.D. in Italian Literature from Columbia.
Isotta is an adjunct professor of Italian literature. In 1995, she was a professor of Italian Renaissance literature at Columbia University. She has taught literature and Italian film at Columbia, NYU, Harvard, Princeton, and other universities. Her studies and research specialize in the works of Petrarch and Dante. She wrote her first book on medieval symbolism, stressing the importance of Dante and Petrarch.
In 1995, Isotta’s first book, In the Passing of the Sign: Idols of the Mind and Echoes of Life in the Rerum Vulgarium Fragmenta was published. She has often held conferences on her father’s neorealism, focusing in particular on the importance of films produced for Italian television. She is the author of the book “Know Thyself: Western Identity from Classical Greece to the Renaissance“.

Isotta Rossellini has also been involved in the film industry. Although uncredited for her work, she has worked in the make-up department and as a set decorator for a few films. She later fell in love with Richard Aborn. She and Richard got married on May 27, 1990, and have remained married since. They have been married for more than 30 years. Isotta is the mother of two children, Francesca Aborn and Tommaso Rossellini.
Where Is Isotta Rossellini Now?
Isotta Rossellini lives in New York City. She is living privately with her husband and two children. Unfortunately, she has lost both parents. Her father Roberto Gastone Zeffiro Rossellini died on 3 June 1977, at age 71, in Rome, Italy. He died of a heart attack. Isotta’s mother Ingrid Bergman died on 29 August 1982, at age 67, in London, England.
