Arthur Kardashian was born on October 27, 1917, in Los Angeles, California, USA to ethnic Armenian parents from Kars, Russia, now Turkey, named Hamas “Hanna” (Shakarian) and Tatos S. “Tom” Kardashian. Arthur Kardashian got married to his wife Helen Kardashian who also passed away in 2008. Arthur Kardashian and Helen Kardashian got married in 1938. The two love birds were married for 70 years until the death of his wife.

Arthur and his wife had three children during their time together. Arthur was a good man who was loved by his family. Kim Kardashian has often shared posts honoring “papa Arthur Kardashian” since he passed, and they stand as testaments of the tight bonds they had while he lived. Arthur passed away at the age of 95 on December 9, 2012. He died in Mission Hills, Santa Barbara County, California, United States. The cause of his death has not been made public.

The Kardashians were Armenian Spiritual Christians originally from Kars Oblast and known by the surname Kardaschoff, a Russianized form of the Armenian surname Kardashian, as the area, though now part of modern-day Turkey, was then part of the Russian Empire. Once in the United States, Arthur’s father, Tatos, changed his name to Thomas, and began a career in garbage collection, founding his own business, and married Hamas Shakarian, also an immigrant of Armenian heritage.

How did the Kardashian family get so famous?

Arthur Kardashian’s son, Robert was an American attorney and businessman. He gained recognition as O. J. Simpson‘s friend and defense attorney during Simpson’s 1995 murder trial. Robert Kardashian and OJ Simpson first met around 1967 while both of them were at USC and became close friends.

During Robert Kardashian and Kris Houghton’s wedding in 1978 O.J was his best man. Arthur Kardashian’s son, Robert was the water boy for the USC Trojans football team which would be ranked #1 in the nation in the AP Poll. Arthur Kardashian’s son died before him. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in July 2003. He died two months later, on September 30, 2003, at age 59, and was buried at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.

Arthur’s grandkids are now very famous, and all have different things going for them. Through different ventures, several members of the family have assets of over a billion dollars.  Arthur’s granddaughter, Kim Kardashian became a celebrity in the early 2000s, which enabled the family as a whole to rise to stardom in 2007.

The Kardashian appeared together on the highly popular reality television show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show’s 14-year run gave and maintained media exposure to each member of the family, allowing them to start and build their individual careers in multiple businesses under their own separate brand.

However, the “Keeping Up with Kardashians” show that shot them into international fame has ended, and fans are keeping their attention on what the family does next. Among all four kids, Kim seems to be the closest to their Armenian roots as she appears to be the one who has visited the country the most. Though the death of Arthur Kardashian caused the family pain, they are back on their feet once again doing what they do best.
