Amy Connolly is the daughter of Billy Connolly and Pamela Stephenson. Amy’s father Billy Connolly is an actor, retired comedian, artist, writer, musician, and television presenter while her mother Pamela Stephenson is a psychologist, writer, actress, and comedian. Billy Connolly has appeared in various films, including Indecent Proposal, Pocahontas, Muppet Treasure Island, Mrs Brown, The Boondock Saints, The Last Samurai, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, The X-Files: I Want to Believe, Brave, and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

Her parents are Scottish actor, retired comedian, artist, writer, musician, and television presenter Sir William Connolly known as Billy Connolly, and his wife New Zealand–born actress, clinical psychologist, writer, and comedian Pamela Stephenson. Her parents have been married since 20 December 1989. Amy has two biological siblings and two half-siblings.

Daisy Connolly and Scarlett Connolly are Amy Connolly’s siblings from the same parents while Jamie Connolly and Cara Connolly are Amy’s half-siblings from her father’s past marriage to Iris Pressagh. Amy’s mother Pamela Stephenson was previously married to English actor Nicholas Ball. Amy’s grandparents from her father’s side are William Connolly and Mary McLean, both of whom were of partly Irish descent.

Amy Connolly studied to be an undertaker. She used to be employed as a dress designer in Los Angeles but she quit after she reportedly got fed up with it. Her father Billy Connolly once told The Guardian: ‘Amy is studying to be an undertaker. She was working as a dress designer in Los Angeles and she got fed up with it. She saw an advert for an intern in a cemetery and she loved it the second she did it. It’s the truth! She loves it.’

Amy Connolly is living a low-key life away from publicity. She and her parents have a good relationship. Her father Billy said he is a ‘Victorian father’. He said: ‘I haven’t caught up with the mood of the age yet, although I look and speak as though I have. I still care about all my children [he has four girls and a boy], and worry about my girls and always make sure they are on the right lines. When we’re crossing the road, I go, “Righto, here we go!” as if they’re six years of age.’

According to The Guardian, Billy Connolly revealed that at age 24, Amy Connolly already had her own apartment. He said: ‘Amy, who is 24, has her own apartment. But the other night she was going out from our house and she said, “See you later,” and I said, “Oh, when will you be back?” She said: “I’m going to my apartment.” I said: “Yes, but when’ll you be back?” She said: “I won’t be back, I’ve got an apartment.” I went: “Oh, yeah.”

Amy Connolly has not gone public with her relationship. It is not publicly known whether she is married or in a relationship at the moment. She hasn’t been romantically linked with anyone however, her partner’s information will be updated as soon as the information is available.

What Happened To Amy Connolly’s Father?

Amy Connolly’s father Billy Connolly underwent minor surgery for early-stage prostate cancer, in September 2013. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s after a doctor spotted him walking strangely through the lobby of a hotel in Los Angeles. He gave a health update on how he is growing old with Parkinson’s. He said:

“I’m an old guy. I don’t mind it, actually. I have a lovely life. There are people that are a lot worse than me and I’m doing just dandy. You can pee in the bed. You can leap onto the floor at a wedding and do all sorts of magic steps. To be shameful. Shamefully out of touch but not giving a f***. It’s wonderful. I’ve spent a great deal of my life being a boy, being excited by things and it’s done me good.”

He added: “I know lots of people who are dead and they don’t know it. They haven’t had a funeral. They’re just dead. They’ve given up. They don’t get excited by anything any more.”

Billy Connolly was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship for lifetime achievement from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. While receiving the BAFTA Fellowship 2022, in his acceptance speech he spoke about how he doesn’t let his battles with Parkinson’s dictate who he is.

He said: “I have a collection of shiny things that I’m very proud of. But I never set out to get them or hunt them down. I don’t believe in aiming at it because if you don’t get it for whatever reason you’re all disappointed. Just do what you do well and you’ll find yourself a fellow before you know it.”

He added: “It’s really important to work, to draw, to write, to walk silly for your grandchildren. Doing the same thing you’ve always done is good for you. I don’t let the Parkinson’s dictate who I am – I just get on with it. I’ve had a very successful career and I have no regrets at all.”
