Rosie’s Father Suffered A Stroke

Rosie Mortimer’s father Sir John Clifford Mortimer who was born on 21 April 1923, in Hampstead, London, England, died on 16 January 2009, in Turville Heath, Buckinghamshire, England, at age 85. He suffered a stroke in October 2008 before dying in 2009.

Speaking of her father, Rosie Mortimer said: ‘In 2008, as Dad became ill and it grew clear that he was not going to live for very much longer, I was shocked at the thought of losing him. I could not imagine life without him and felt jealous that my siblings had had so much more time with him.

During those last few months of his life, I became incredibly grateful for any time I could possibly spend with Dad and didn’t take a single second for granted. I was so thankful that my boyfriend George had the opportunity to meet him and that Dad had given his blessing to our marriage.

Dad died in January at the age of 85. I miss him terribly. I hate the fact he won’t be at my wedding and won’t be able to walk me down the aisle. There is no one who could possibly make a better speech than he would have done.

He will never meet my children or see them grow up and I know there will be countless times when I will think: ‘If only he was here.’
