Rory Nolan is the son of Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas. Though he was in the United States of America, the age and birthday of Rory are unknown. She is not the only child of the couple, she has three siblings: Magnus Nolan, Flora Nolan, and Oliver Nolan and the family resides in Los Angeles.

The director has often woven stories about parents (specifically fathers) and their relationship with their kids into most of his films. While speaking with The Guardian, Chris Nolan talked about the guilt he feels while leaving his kids to direct a movie and how that’s fed into his work as a filmmaker, especially “Interstellar”:

“There is a lot of guilt for that. A lot of guilt. The very sadness of saying goodbye to people is a massive expression of the love you feel for them. For me, [‘Interstellar’] is really about being a father.”- The Dark Knight director went on- “The sense of your life passing you by and your kids growing up before your eyes. Very much what I felt watching Richard Linklater’s ‘Boyhood,’ an extraordinary film, which is weirdly doing the same thing in a completely different way. We are all engaged in the biggest mystery of all, which is just living through time.“

His mother Emma Thomas is a Film producer

Rory is from a family of filmmakers. His mother and father have worked on the same projects except for the short 2015 documentary “Quay.” Rory’s parents worked together on films including –  The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Prestige, Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk, and Tenet.

His father and mother met at ages 19 and 18 respectively and bonded over their love for films. Aside from working with Chris Nolan, Thomas has also produced movies such as “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “Transcendence.” Asides from her role as producer, Rory Nolan’s mother has also served as a crew member on some films such as “Bean,” “The Matchmaker,” “The Borrowers,” “High Fidelity,” among others.

Rory Nolan is an actor

Rory is an actor. He briefly appears in his parents’ film The Dark Knight Rises as a boy on the bus on the bridge during the film’s climax and in the hospital scene in Interstellar. His sister Flora Nolan also appeared briefly as a girl on the back of a truck in Interstellar.

The Filmmaker loves to name his projects after his children. Following the tradition of Nolan naming his working titles after his children, the working title for the film The Dark Knight was “Rory’s First Kiss” while the movie was filmed in Chicago. Aside from The Dark Knight Rises, he is also known for Dare to Be Wild (2015) and Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars (2007).
