In an interview with Betweentheposts, the Canadian former professional ice hockey player said he is still grateful to be alive as most of his teammates are no longer with us. He revealed-

” It made me feel thankful for all that I have after 70 years. Yes, I lost my wife [Wendy] to cancer (in October 2001); by far, the toughest moment of my life. She’s the mother of my children and will always hold a unique place in my heart. But, I was fortunate to re–marry a wonderful woman, Luba, 16 years ago. And, my life today is special… with children and grandchildren; feeling as well as I do at 70. I’m a lucky man.“

It is unclear how Luba Sittler and her husband meet but they tied the knot somewhere between 2003 and 2005. They have been together since. The couple has no known children. But Darryl Sittler has three children from his previous marriage to Wendy Bibblings.

Luba’s step-children Ryan Sittler and Meaghan Sittler took after their father. Her stepdaughter Meaghan is a former ice hockey player for the Colby College White Mules women’s ice hockey program and the Brampton Thunder of the NWHL. She is Colby’s all-time leading scorer with 199 goals and 121 assists in 85 games. Her stepson Ryan is also a former professional ice hockey left winger who played in the American Hockey League (AHL).
