Nicky Brooks was born on December 12, 1957, in New York, United States of America. As of 2023, he is 66 years old. Nicky is the second child and the first son of Mel Brooks and his first wife Florence Baum. Brooks has most often referred to his children as “these nice friends I’ve grown.”  Nicky has two biological siblings: Stephanie Brooks and Eddie Brooks and a half-brother Max Brooks from his father’s second marriage with Oscar-winning actress Anne Bancroft.

Mel Brooks had a plan for all his children including Nicky. He told the Nytimes- “I’d like my son Eddie to go into film or theater, my daughter Stephanie should write—she’s at Brandeis. Papers about Henry James, that kind. Very smart, brilliant. My first wife was a dancer. My son Nicholas, he should be a doctor or a filmmaker.“

Per his IMDB profile, Nicky Brooks has written advertising copy, owned his own computer game company, and worked as a financial consultant, focusing primarily on the area of motion picture finance. He also worked a few times with his father. Nicky wrote the screenplay for the 2016 movie Sam, for which his father was an executive producer according to Variety, and has produced several short films, including Beautiful and Confession on Pleasant Street.

While Nicky Brooks is breaking boundaries and making a name for himself, his father Mel Brooks still isn’t slowing down at 96 either. The sequel to his seminal film History of the World, Part I premiered as a Hulu series on March 6, 2023.

Since first becoming a dad so many years ago, Mel is still moving and grooving — despite the loss of his beloved. In 2005, Nicky Brooks’ stepmother Anne Bancroft tragically died of uterine cancer at the age of 73. The actor and comedian leaned on Nicky and his siblings during his time of grief after his wife’s passing. They have even been the inspiration behind some of his greatest works.

In 2021, Mel authored his memoir, All About Me!, to give fans a deeper look at his biggest projects and his marriage to Anne. He wrote in the memoir, “What an adventure life turned out to be!” He was hesitant to write the memoir in the first place, but Nicky’s younger brother Max was there to encourage him to get it done.
