Matthew Pierce Hanson and His wife Rebecca’s Marriage and How they Meet.
Matthew Pierce and his wife are enjoying a joyful and lovely married life. On January 28, 2012, Matthew Hanson and Rebecca Jarvis exchanged wedding vows. In Minnesota, the couple married in a beautiful and fashionable ceremony.
The couple knew each other for several years before they started to date. “I remember him as this guy’s guy, always hanging out with a large group of friends and making them laugh,” Rebecca Jarvis said of their college days. After college, they worked in investment banking in Chicago for 100 hours a week in a small cubicle at Bank of America, where they met and fell in love.
“She was the funniest girl I ever met,” Matthew Pierce Hanson said during an interview. “There was an enormous depth to her personality and character that she didn’t reveal to a lot of people. I found that very appealing.”
In July 2004, after hundreds of PowerPoint presentations and meetings, Mr. Hanson, who had been working with Ms. Jarvis for more than a year, finally mustered the courage to ask her on a date.
“By working so closely together for a year, I got to know him very well,” Ms. Jarvis said. “I had already seen how well he treated other girls he dated before me, and I knew how genuine he was. Investment banking is a brutal business, but he always had the ability to do the comic-relief thing to help relieve the stress, not just for me but for other members of our group. So by the time he asked me out, I was able to see who he really was without him having to make a first impression.”
The couple returned to Chicago in December 2010 to see relatives and friends. Matthew Hanson got down on one knee and proposed to them on the icy ground outside their old bank building on LaSalle Street.
“I did not see it coming,” Ms. Jarvis said. “It was so cold out, and we were both shivering. When he took off his glove and reached into his pocket to take out the ring, it was difficult to tell if he was shivering from the cold or from nervousness.”
Rabbi Barry Axler and the Rev. Craig H. Hanson, the bridegroom’s father, presided. On the wedding day, Matthew donned a black tuxedo with a white shirt. Rebecca also donned a sleeveless long white gown that she made especially for the wedding.
