What Happened To Angie Dickinson’s Daughter?
Daughter of composer Burt Bacharach and actress Angie Dickinson, Lea Nikki Bacharach who was born on the 12th of Jul 1966, in California, United States died on the 4th of January 2007. Lea was also commonly referred to as Nikki. Nikki died at the age of 40 after she committed suicide.
Nikki took her own life by suffocating in her apartment in Thousand Oaks, Ventura County, California, USA. Born three months prematurely, Nikki suffered chronic health problems, including visual impairment. She was autistic and diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome.
Nikki spent about nine years at the Wilson Center, a psychiatric residential treatment facility for adolescents in Faribault, Minnesota. She was able to study geology at California Lutheran University but due to her poor eyesight, she couldn’t pursue it as a career.
Nikki was the only child of her parents Angie Dickinson and Burt Bacharach but she has three siblings from her father’s other marriages. Her siblings are Oliver Bacharach, Raleigh Bacharach, and Cristopher Bacharach. Her father Burt composed the music of the song “Nikki” for his daughter Nikki.
Nikki’s mother Angie Dickinson declined several roles to focus on caring for her daughter Nikki. Nikki was Angie’s only child. Nikki’s parents released a joint statement after her death. Angie Dickinson and Burt Bacharach’s statement said:
“She quietly and peacefully committed suicide to escape the ravages to her brain brought on by Asperger’s. …She loved kitties, earthquakes, glacial calving, meteor showers, science, blue skies and sunsets, and Tahiti. She was one of the most beautiful creatures created on this earth, and she is now in the white light, at peace.”

Per sources, Burt Bacharach wrote: “She was cremated and there was no service, but Angie made a memorial booklet for her with photographs and a long poem. The last lines were, ‘Nikki put on quite a show when she was here, on this Earth. She was not understood by most but loved and appreciated by a precious few. And now, she’s finally happy. Her Mom.’”

Nikki’s mother and father Angie Dickinson and Burt Bacharach were married in 1965. They gave birth to their only child and daughter Lea Nikki Bacharach a year after they were married. Burt became a dad for the first time and Angie, a mom for the first time.
Their beloved daughter Lea Nikki Bacharach was born three months before her due date. For some reason, Angie and Burt were separated on September 12, 1976, but didn’t file for divorce until 1980. Their marriage lasted for 15 years.

Burt Bacharach has been married four times. He married his fourth wife, Jane Hanson, in 1993 and they have been blessed with two children, a son, and a daughter. Burt has composed hundreds of pop songs from the late 1950s through the 1980s.
Burt Bacharach is a six-time Grammy Award winner and three-time Academy Award winner. His songs have been well-received and recorded by more than 1,000 various artists. He has been able to write hits for several famous artists. Unfortunately, Nikki’s father, Burt Bacharach died of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles on February 8, 2023, at the age of 94.
