Eleanora Hope is the daughter of Bob Hope and Dolores Hope. Eleanora Hope’s father Bob was a British-American comedian, vaudevillian, actor, singer, and dancer. Her mother Dolores was an American singer, entertainer, and philanthropist.

Eleanora Hope was born in 1930 in the United States of America. She is an adopted daughter of Bob Hope and Dolores Hope. She was not the only adopted child of her parents, she had three other adopted siblings. They are  Anthony J. Hope, William Kelly Francis Hope, and Linda Hope.

Her parents were also the legal guardians of Tracey, the youngest daughter of famous New York City bar owner Bernard “Toots” Shor and his wife, Marion “Baby” Shor. Dolores Hope was Tracey’s godmother at birth.

Eleanora Hope is a well-educated woman- Her father make sure of that, she graduated from Providence High School in Burbank, Califonia, Los Angeles County in 1964. Her father delivered the commencement address, which was full of the kind of humor that made his fortune.

Eleanora Hope’s mother Dolores Hope worked as a model before she began her professional singing career. Her birth name was Dolores L. DeFina but she adopted the name Dolores Reade on the advice of her agent. She appeared as a vocalist on two Joe Venuti and His Orchestra recordings of ‘Heat Wave” and “Easter Parade”.

Her Parent- Bob and Dolores Hope’s Marriage had lots of Controversies

Dolores was not the first woman Bob Hopes took to the altar. According to his Wikipedia, Bob was briefly married to vaudeville partner Grace Louise Troxell (1912–1992), a secretary from Chicago, Illinois. They were married on January 25, 1933, in Erie, Pennsylvania. They divorced in November 1934.

Eleanora Hope’s mother Dolores Hope later joined Bob’s vaudeville troupe and was performing with him at Loew’s Metropolitan Theater and that was how they meet. She was described as a “former Ziegfeld beauty and one of society’s favorite nightclub entertainers, having appeared at many private social functions in New York, Palm Beach, and Southampton”.

Their long-alleged marriage was fraught with ambiguities. As Richard Zoglin wrote in his 2014 biography Hope: Entertainer of the Century,

Bob and Dolores always claimed that they married in February 1934 in Erie, Pennsylvania. But at that time, he was secretly married to his vaudeville partner Louise Troxell, after three years together on and off. I found divorce papers for Bob and Louise dated November 1934, so either Bob Hope was a bigamist, or he lied about marrying Dolores in February that year. He had actually married Louise in January 1933 in Erie when they were traveling on the vaudeville circuit. When he claimed he had married Dolores in Erie he was miles away in New York, on Broadway. More intriguing, there is no record anywhere of his marriage to Dolores, if it happened. And there are no wedding photos, either. But he never forgot Louise and quietly sent her money in her later years.

Eleanora Hope’s parents, Bob and Dolores celebrated their birthdays on May 28 every year – splitting the difference between their respective real birthdays. Dolores was born on May 27 while Bob was born on May 29.

Her Parents were Centenarians

Both of Eleanora Hope’s parents lived up to 100 years before they passed away. Her father Bob Hope lived up to 100 years before he died. He retired from all public life in 1998 and died on July 27, 2003, in his Toluca Lake home. Her mother Dolores Hope also lived up to 103 before she died. She died of natural causes at her home in Toluca Lake like her husband, on September 19, 2011. She had been in relatively good health until a few months before her death.

Where is Eleanora Hope now?
