Daphne Demar Caravageli was born on 25 June 1945 in New York, Bronx, New York, USA. She was the daughter of Demas Angelo Caravageli and Mary Karalekas. Daphne Damar Caravageli is of Greek descent. She was married to Lawrence Paul Harmon, a hospital information network executive in Dallas, Texas.
Her husband is of German and Irish ancestry. In an episode of Who Do You Think You Are?, the Law & Order actor found that she had a German ancestor who served in George Washington’s army during the American Revolutionary War, and that ancestor later acquired land in Mercer County, Kentucky. The land is still owned by a distant branch of her family.
A few years after they tied the knot, the couple had their one and only child, Angie on 10th August 1972. Daphne and her husband couldn’t stay together for long, they called their marriage quit when their daughter Angie was still a toddler. When Daphne’s daughter was 15 years old and in the 10th grade, she won the national cover-girl contest for Seventeen magazine (1987).
Daphne’s daughter, Angie began acting in 1995. She was discovered on a plane by actor David Hasselhoff. Initially, she rejected the offer to be an actress. Angie told Parade– “He discovered me on a plane and offered me a role on Baywatch Nights, but I said, “No, thank you,” because I’d never had an acting lesson. Oddly enough, my friend who was with me went on an audition for him two weeks later and he said, “You were with that girl!” That’s where it all started; the opportunity came back, and I will always be thankful to David for believing in me.“
Harmon then had a leading role in Baywatch Nights and the short-lived C-16: FBI. She also appeared in the 1998 film, Lawn Dogs, which received only a limited theatrical release.

In the late 1990s, Harmon became better known when she joined the NBC series Law & Order, playing ADA Abbie Carmichael from 1998 to 2001. During this time, she also voiced Barbara Gordon in the animated film Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, succeeding Stockard Channing in that role.
