Applying her nursing training, Dede was employed at the Boulevard Hospital in New York, and then at Portsmouth General Hospital, in Portsmouth, VA.  Later, Pat Robertson’s wife served as Assistant Professor of Nursing at Tidewater Community College, in Tidewater, VA.

So, to avoid his attention, Dede narrated how she went to the refreshment table and pretended to be busy and unfortunately for her, she got too close to the candles on the table, and her hair caught fire. Her future husband who was standing nearby, noticed her fire, rushed over, and extinguished the fire with his bare hands. “He put out the fire in my hair, but he started a fire in my heart,” Dede explains. In 1954, the couple took their relationship to the next level and got married.

Dede Robertson, the wife of televangelist and Christian Broadcasting Network founder Pat Robertson died at their Virginia Beach home on Tuesday, CBN announced. She was 94 years old at the time of her passing. The cause of her death was not made public. “Dede Robertson was a woman of great faith, a champion of the Gospel, and a remarkable servant of Christ who has left an indelible print on all that she set her hand to during her extraordinary life,” her husband, Pat Robertson said in a statement to CBN.
