Jasmine’s mother, Heini Wathén is a retired model. After winning several beauty pageants in Finland at the age of 17, the beauty queen signed with a modeling agency. She also competed in Miss Finland but did not advance to the finals. Jamine’s late brother, Dodi Fayed introduced Wathén to their father, Mohamed Al-Fayed, who later started dating her and they eventually got married in 1985.

Jasmine and her sisters worked for their father when he was the owner of the department store, Harrods. Her sister confessed putting Camilla Wathen on her name tag – their mother’s maiden name – to minimize fuss around being the proprietor’s daughter. Jasmine was 17 when her brother Dodi Fayed died
Jasmine Fayed was 17 years old when her brother Dodi Fayed was killed in a car accident at the Pont de l’Alma underpass in Paris. Diana, Princess of Wales, his girlfriend of only a few months, died from her injuries later that night. Dodi was pronounced dead at the scene on his removal from the wreckage.
Her father who said the couple “were executed by MI6 agents” erected two memorials to Dodi and Diana at Harrods. One of the memorials unveiled titled Innocent Victims, is a 3 metres (9 feet 10 inches) high bronze statue of the two dancing on a beach, beneath the wings of an albatross.
