Per sources, Thomas Sowell is a father of two children and has also been married twice. Sowell’s first marriage was with Alma Jean Parr. They got married in 1964 and called it quit in 1975. They were married for 11 years before going their separate ways. His second marriage is with Mary Ash. Sowell and Ash tied the knot in 1981, 6 years after his first marriage came to an end. Sowell and Ash have been married for more than 4 decades now.

John Sowell is the son of the renowned commentator Thomas Sowell. Sowell had already determined his son’s intelligence at a very young age. Deseret narrated how 3 years old John had scattered the pieces of his father’s chess set on the floor. When his father asked him to put them back, John put all 32 pieces back exactly where they belonged on the board.

The social critic also tells parents not to “teach” their children to talk. “I used to sit my son down and say, `John, say this, say that.‘ He couldn’t care less, but I would get very upset.” It wasn’t until Thomas Sowell backed off and simply spent enjoyable time with his son that John finally began to produce words. Lorraine Sowell is the daughter of Thomas Sowell. Lorraine Sowell is not in the spotlight like her father. She has been living very private and has not made any news or headlines in recent years. Her father has also not spoken about her in any of her commentaries.
