Marya Carter was born on May 12, 1942, in Los Angeles County, California. As of 2023, she is 81 years old. Marya gained much of her fame from being a model and an actress. Her appearance on Playboy magazine’s Playmate of the Month for its May 1962 issue skyrocketed her popularity. Marya’s centerfold was shot by Paul Morton Smith. She stands at a height of 5 ft 8.5 in (1.740 m).

Marya Carter garnered several acting roles during her career

During the prime of her career in the 1960s and 1970s, Carter pursued an acting career aside from her modeling career. Peter Marshall’s ex-wife mostly appeared in B-movies and guest roles on television. In most of her appearances, she used several names for her credits; among them were Sally Carter, Sally Carter Hunt, Sally Carter Ihnat, and Sally Ihnat. She is known for 1961’s The Phantom Planet, 1973’s The Red Pony, and 1975’s The Trial of Chaplain Jensen. 

She went further to build her career in the film industry. From 1973 to 1976, Marya made several appearances on the crime drama The Rookies. In 1977, she also portrayed Nurse Farragut in the popular series Charlie’s Angels. In 1978, she snagged a minor role in the detective series Switch.

Carter’s last screen appearance was in “Dangerous Curves” episode (aired January 2, 1978) of the TV series Switch. She appeared alongside Robert Wagner, Eddie Albert, and Charlie Callas. Carter’s other major TV appearances include two episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show (1964) and an episode of Police Story (1974).

Peter Marshall is the third man Marya Carter married

Marya Carter’s first marriage was with Donald Scott Michel (November 23, 1963—February 1967). The marriage ended in divorce; they had a child together before they called it all to quit.

Before Peter Marshall, Marya Carter was married to actor Steve Ihnat. Carter’s second husband was a character actor best known for playing Fleet Captain Garth of Izar in the Star Trek episode “Whom Gods Destroy”. The couple had two children including Stefan Andrew Ihnat before their marriage came to an end. Steve Ihnat passed away in 1972 from a heart attack.

Peter Marshall and his ex-wife Marya Carter turned the knot on 9 October 1977. The couple’s marriage lasted for about half a decade before they closed the curtains on that chapter of their life. Peter divorced the actress in 1983, their marriage didn’t produce any children. Before Carter, Marshall was married to Nadene R. Teaford

The reason for their divorce was not made public. However, in a February 2022 interview with Closer, The former Game Show host got candid about his marriages when asked if he would do anything over in his life if given the opportunity.

“I don’t think so. Maybe my second marriage,” he admitted to Closerweekly. “My first marriage produced my four children and lasted 25 years. My second was for an hour and a half.
