VIDEO-“I will not run am a National Asset”- Derrick Boateng Begs Police to take It easy On him After Being Arrested

Ace Ghanaian footballer and a midfielder for the Ghana Black Stars, Derrick Boateng has allegedly been arrested by the police for overspeeding.

Per reports, Derrick Boateng was one of 35 drivers detained in Accra for different traffic offenses during a combined operation by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), and the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) on the Olusegun Obasanjo Way and J A Kufour Avenue.

These drivers were arrested for driving at speeds above the 50 km/hr limit permitted in the city.

Well, in the course of the week, a video has been sighted on social media which captures the moment the ace footballer was pleading with the officer to pardon him for his violations.

While dismissing the player’s arguments, the arresting officer assured him that there would be no “selective justice.”

Boateng then addressed his complaints to the Accra Mayor, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, who was there to see the events.

The mayor, on the other hand, can be heard telling Boateng that he had no authority over him and that he couldn’t order the cops to let him go.

Boateng was then spotted getting back into his car and driving away with an MTTD officer in the passenger seat.

As part of Citi TV’s War Against Indiscipline program, he was apprehended at the East Legon tunnel alongside 20 other wayward drivers.

Well, there hasn’t been any update about the incident as to whether he was later released or still in custody.
