Stayce Holte is the daughter of Legendary singer Patti LaBelle. Stayce Holte’s mother gained massive public attention in the 1980s. Referred to as the “Godmother of Soul”, LaBelle was the lead singer and frontwoman of the vocal group Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles. After the group split in 1976, she embarked on a successful solo career which earned her the “Godmother of Soul” title.

Stayce Holte was born on May 18 1964 in the United States of America. She is one of the adopted children of the legendary singer and her ex-husband Armstead Edwards. As of 2023, she is 59 years old. Her aunt adopted her and her brother William Holte when their mother died in the late ’80s. Aside from her brother William, she has three other siblings- They are Zuri Kye Edwards who is the singer’s biological son, Stanley Stocker-Edwards, and Dodd Stocker-Edwards who were also adopted by LaBelle and her ex-husband.

What happened to Stayce Holte’s biological mother?

Stayce Holte’s biological mother was LaBelle’s younger sister. LaBelle’s younger sister Jackie” Holte-Padgett sadly passed away from brain cancer at the age of 43. Members of LaBelle’s family died at young ages. All three of LaBelle’s sisters died young. The singer said because her sisters and parents passed away “before their time”, she wrote in her autobiography that she feared she would not make it to 50.

 A day after the singer buried her sister and Stayce Holte’s biological mother Padgett, an emotionally-wrecked LaBelle shot the music video to her hit song “If You Asked Me To”. In the music video, she was seen crying in various shots. LaBelle also shot the video on what would have been her younger sister’s 44th birthday. The singer also dedicated her 1991 Burnin’ album and her famous rendition of the song “Wind Beneath My Wings” during her concert tour in 1991–92 to Stayce’s mother.

On Stayce’s birthday in 2022, her aunt shared a carousel of images of them and said, “I love you more than words can express!” The singer was also there for her daughter when she went through a painful breakup. To comfort Stayce, LaBelle constantly told her niece that she loved her dearly and “nothing could ever change that.” The two have been seen in pictures sharing adorable mother-and-daughter moments. Lots of fans have praised the singer for being able to raise her children in combination with her music career.

After her mother’s funeral, Stayce presented to her Auntie LaBelle with a Mother’s Day ring that she and his brother William Holte had given their mother in the hospital. On her aunty mommy’s 75th birthday, the adopted daughter of LaBelle penned a glowing tribute that read in part:

“She loves on me like a mom, we fight like sisters, she spoils me like an auntie, and we talk late into the night and share secrets like besties. I was raised in a village of strong black women, and she’s the last (wo)man standing.”

Stayce Holte revealed she has bipolar

The daughter and Niece of LaBelle revealed in June 2019, “I have bipolar disorder, but it doesn’t have me!” In a post she made on her Instagram. she went on to share that she had survived a suicide attempt unlike many who couldn’t. She used her personal experience to appeal to kindness, as one never knows what someone else is going through. She ended her long post with some strong words- “I’m Stayce Holte and I have bipolar disorder but it doesn’t have me!” she also periodically dishes out life advice on her Twitter page.
