Who is Stanley Stocker-Edwards?

Stanley Stocker-Edwards is one of singer Patti LaBelle’s adopted sons, whom she adopted while she was still married to her first husband. Stanley Stocker-Edwards’ mother LaBelle who is referred to as the “Godmother of Soul” is an R&B singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. He gained the attention of many in the 1980s with her style and talent.

Stanley Stocker-Edwards was born in 1965 in the United States of America. He is 58 years old as of 2023. Stanley Stocker-Edwards and his brother Dodd Stocker-Edwards were adopted by the legendary singer and her ex-husband Armstead Edwards after their parents who were the singer’s neighbors passed away. Zuri Kye Edwards, Stayce Holte, and William Holte are the singer’s other three children. Stayce Holte and William Holte are also the children of LaBelle’s younger sister Jacqueline “Jackie” Holte-Padgett, who passed away from brain cancer at the age of 43.

Stanley Stocker-Edwards dated Michelle Obama

In his authorized biography about the former First Lady of America, Peter Slevin revealed in the book that Michelle Obama (back when she was Michelle LaVaughn Robinson) dated Patti LaBelle’s son Stanley Stocker-Edwards while they were both Harvard Law students.

But Former first lady Michelle Obama revealed that “nothing lasted,” for her, and strongly implied that “no man could handle her” until Barack Obama came along. Regardless of how the relationship went, there are no hard feelings between the former First Lady and Stanley Stocker. According to Afrotech, today, Stanley Stocker works as an attorney at Covington and Burling LLP, in Washington D.C.  

The legendary singer has been applauded for raising her five children while thriving in her career. Her five children: Zuri, William, Stayce, Dodd, and Stanley are all grown up now and are pursuing their respective careers. From the look of things, some of her children are more interested in other fields than the entertainment industry.

His parents are divorced

After LaBelle started her solo career, Armstead Edwards became her manager, a position he would remain in until 2000 when the couple separated. The manager position is now being held by their son Zuri Edwarda. In 2000, the singer announced a separation from her husband of 3 decades. They finalized their divorce in 2003, however, the singer said they are still friends. LaBelle revealed the reason for the divorce to be: “We just couldn’t live together — not because of physical fights or anything“.
