Rick Harrison Net worth and His Career.
Moving to Las Vegas was a Game changer for Rick. Once the family moved to Las Vegas In 1981, Rick’s father started his first Second-hand bag Store. Their Gold and Silver Coin shop started in a 300-square foot hole in Las Vegas Boulevard. Rick used to work in the shop during the day and at the night he repossessed cars.
When they made enough money from the store they moved to a larger space to expand their business. Unfortunately, they made some losses and have to move back to a smaller place.
Rick however was in talks with his Dad to convert the coin shop into a pawn shop. This was a major turning moment in their business. This plan wasn’t easy either at the time, they were laws in Las Vegas to reduce the number of pawnshops based on the population. Tese made acquiring a license for opening a pawn shop not easy.
He however called the city’s statistician every week to inquire about the growth in population so that they can be the first to apply the moment the city hits benchmark that will allow a pawnshop to be opened. These happened after a year and Rick Harrison was able to get his much-awaited license to be able to operate his pawnshop. It wasn’t just a regular pawnshop but also a haven for gamblers who find themselves in bad situations and in need of pawn items they can sell to get some cash to get to wherever they are going.
Before the TV reality show, Harrison spent four years pitching the idea of a television show about his pawnshop after his store was the subject of a 2001 PBS documentary and on the popular Comedy Central show Insomniac with Dave Attell in 2003.
