A Cape Coast Circuit Court presided over by Mrs. Dorinda Smith Arthur, has sentenced a 19-year old boy to 20 years imprisonment.
Emmanuel Addae, popularly known at Assin Fosu in the Central Region as ‘Kofi Yesu’, was convicted on account of the robbery.
According to the prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo, the complainant, Irene Agyapong, who is also a resident of Assin Fosu was returning from work at about 7 pm within the month of May this year when Kofi Yesu attacked her.
Chief Inspector Ayongo indicated that Kofi Yesu being armed with a machete demanded that the complainant surrenders her belongings. Irene’s refusal to yield to the demand resulted in the injury-the thrusting of her nose through to her upper lips. The suspect then made away with her mobile phone and a sum of money.
He was then arrested and arraigned before court and subsequently remanded in custody upon pleading guilty to his crime.
The court, pronouncing judgement on September 9, 2021, handed Kofi Yesu 20 years imprisonment with hard labour for robbery to serve as a deterrent to others.
After the judgement, he begun to cry and pleaded for the judge to reduce the number of years for him but nothing was done
