Paula Vasu is not the first woman he married.

According to Bill Medley’s Wikipedia, he met his first wife Karen O’Grady in church, started dating in 1963, and they were married at the beginning of his music career. The couple had a son Darrin who was born in 1965, but they ended their marriage when Darrin was about five.

Vasu’s husband Medley, married Suzi Robertson in 1970, then Janice Gorham, but each marriage was soon annulled. He had a number of relationships with other women, including Darlene Love, Mary Wilson, and Connie Stevens.

Medley married his current wife Paula in 1986, and their union has been blessed with a daughter, McKenna. There isn’t much information available regarding how the two met and started their relationship. According to reviewjournal, On June 8, 2020, Medley lost his wife, Paula, after a five-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. She lost her battle with Parkinson’s at the family’s home in Nashville. Medley felt he had prepared emotionally for Paula’s passing, but it hit him hard, and fast.

“It was an ass-kicking for me,” he revealed in the interview. “I obviously had thought about it, and thought … this will sound really crappy, but I thought, well in some ways she’ll get what she wanted, and I’ll be free to go anywhere, do anything. But boy, the minute she passed away that just left my mind.

“I mean, she was such a huge partner in my life, and you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.”- Bill Medley revealed.

Before she passed away, Paula Vasu had made it clear to her husband that she was ready to leave this life.

“Oh, absolutely. She said, ‘I want to go home. I want to go have dinner with my dad,’” Medley says, shaking his head. “I knew what that meant, you know, because she would keep asking me, ‘Why is this happening to me? What did I do?’ and that’s a really interesting question to watch this happen to somebody who was a wonderful lady, a wonderful lady. It just seemed cruel to me. I’m a spiritual guy. I’m not blaming God or anybody, but it just felt cruel to me.”

Though Paula was the wife of a famous Hollywood personality, she didn’t make lots of headlines and she lived a very private life.

Bill Medley’s first wife was Murdered

In January 1976, Medley’s first wife Karen, by then remarried and named Karen Klaas, was raped and murdered by a stranger. Due to this event, Medley decided to take time off from his music career to look after his 10-year-old son Darrin. The murder had not been solved and Medley employed a private investigator in an effort to track down the killer.

On January 27, 2017, the case was finally cracked. According to reports, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced that investigators used a controversial DNA testing method to solve the decades-old murder. The sheriff’s department said that the case “was solved through the use of familial DNA, which identified the killer,” who was named as Kenneth Troyer, a sex offender and fugitive killed by police in 1982.
