In 1964, David appeared in his first Broadway play, “Hello, Dolly!” and the following year in his second and only other play, “The Yearling.” He later appeared in the 1967 comedy western film “The Ballad of Josie,” the 1968 comedy film “Nobody’s Perfect,” and the 1968 comedy film “Did You Hear the One About the Traveling Saleslady.” David rose to prominence for his role as a doctor in the medical series “The Bold Ones: The New Doctors,” which aired from 1969 to 1973 and earned him a Golden Globe nomination.
