Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore was born on September 6, 1943, in Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts, United States. She is the daughter of the late Herbert and Marie Wilson of Brighton, MA. She is the sister of Stephen Wilson (Jean) of W. Roxbury. She is of Irish and French-Canadian descent.

Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore studied at St. Columbkille’s school. She enrolled in the University of Massachusetts Boston, where she majored in mathematics. She earned a degree in mathematics. She worked as a teacher in Bahrain and Denmark and later as a business consultant.

Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore and her then partner Sherrod Moore gave birth to Shemar Franklin Moore, on April 20, 1970, in Oakland, California, U.S. Marilyn raised her son as a single mother. Sherrod was reportedly abusive and “erratic”. He once ended up serving four years in jail. Marilyn did everything in her power to provide and take care of her son.

During Shemar’s adulthood, he reconnected with his dad and purchased a house for him. Marilyn and her son Shemar Moore moved to Denmark when Shemar was an infant. They also moved to Bahrain when Shemar was four. Marilyn lived in Redondo Beach, CA.

What Happened To Shemar Moore’s Mother?

Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore battled multiple sclerosis for most of her life. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1999 but had been battling the disease way before she got to know it. There were telltale signs like urinary urgency, falling frequently, and a weird itch on her thumb and forearm.

Marilyn’s son Shemar Moore once mentioned that he would tell his mother to take an aspirin and have some rest, and maybe her ailments would disappear. He eventually got to realize that his mom’s condition was serious. He said:

“I always thought of her as my super mom, and MS is her kryptonite. She’s cracked a little bit, but I always say that she’ll never break.” Shemar took care of his mother as they studied and learned more about MS while also looking for the best options for her treatment.

Marilyn had to undergo hip replacement surgery when her mobility started to deteriorate. She also felt cognitive off. Marilyn still engaged in activities and positive attitude including yoga, swimming, and physical therapy sessions. Marilyn and Shemar decided to raise awareness about the disease.

To support people with a similar disorder, Shemar and his colleagues from “Criminal Minds” joined to participate in the MS Bike Tour annually. Shemar also joined the Bike MS: Coastal Challenge and raised more funds with his clothing line, Baby Girl. Unfortunately, Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore died on February 8, 2020.

Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore’s son Shemar shared the news of his mother’s passing with a tearful video. He wrote in the caption of the video shared on Instagram: ‘Marylin Joan Wilson-Moore, my mother, best friend, and partner in crime passed away Feb 8th at 76 years old… I miss her more than I ever thought possible and I don’t know how to do this life without her.

‘But I get my STRENGTH from her and I will be OK because of HER. Mama…. here come that man!!!!! What I do from this day forward is for YOU!!!! I’m going to continue to LEAP and pray that the NET appears!!

‘It was too soon …. and it hurts so bad…. but I know you are with me and will continue to give me strength… I love you mama.’

Shemar began the video by saying: ‘This is real life. Your baby boy is OK, but I’m hurting real bad. It’s not a game, it’s not a joke. I’m hurting real bad. I’ve been offline for some weeks now. I’ve had to keep a secret out of respect to my mom. Ten days ago, February 8, 2020, my mom Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore passed away.’

Shemar held up framed photos of his mom, including one of him as a child, putting on lipstick. He explained: ‘I was the little girl that she never had. That’s why in this picture, I’m putting lipstick on, because she thought she was gonna have a little girl.’

He continued: ‘To my homies, my fans and my baby girls, I’m not famous, I’m not Hondo, I ain’t s*** without this woman. I’m just a man, and I’m gonna miss my mama for the rest of my life.’

Shemar shared lovely photos of some moments he had with his mom and wrote the caption: My Mama always said “I was at the front of the line when God was handing out sons” …. and I always said “Mama, you know I cut the line to get to you!” ❤️ I love you mama ❤️

Marilyn is not alive but her son has kept her memory alive. He frequently shares photos of his mother on the internet. On her birthday, Shemar posted a beautiful photo with his mother and wished her a ‘Happy Heavenly Birthday’.

He wrote: Happy Heavenly Birthday Momma Marilyn… 77 today… I Love You… You affected so many lives with your Brilliant Light, mind, Love, Sass, heart,and keeping it cute and elegant all day everyday. I know you up there puff puff passing and sipping that wine…. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉💕💕💕💕🕊🕊🕊
