Who Is Daniel Kaluuya’s Father, Stephen?

Stephen Kaluuya is famous for being the father of British actor and writer Daniel Kaluuya. Stephen is from Uganda. He came to England from Uganda. He and Damalie Namusoke are the parents of Daniel and his older sister. Per the mirror, Stephen and Damalie’s union began to fall apart when Damalie was pregnant with Daniel.

The duo reportedly split because of “misunderstandings” after they moved to the UK in the late 1980s. Although, Stephen Kaluuya and Damalie Namusoke split, Daniel still took his father’s surname. The mirror has it that, Stephen and Damalie had named their son Joseph. Daniel’s real name is Joseph but he has chosen to use Joseph as his middle name.

A family friend said: “Stephen couldn’t understand why his son was called Daniel when that was not the name he had chosen for him. He has been so confused, but now he’s seen Daniel’s birth certificate again and learned that he kept Joseph as his middle name.” The source added: “The truth is there. It has opened up a lot of old wounds for him.”

Stephen was not present in the life of his children while they were growing up. Damalie had to raise their children alone on a council estate in Camden Town. Stephen lived in Balaka, Malawi, and had no contact with his son Daniel until he was 15. The first 15 years of Daniel’s life were without his father Stephen.

In an interview, Daniel Kaluuya said he did not connect with his father’s family until he was 15. Stephen was reportedly unable to visit due to the stringent Visa policies. The father and son have an estranged relationship. Stephen is desperately hoping to be reconciled with his son, Daniel. Stephen who is an NHS worker saw his son Daniel Kaluuya when he was a baby.

Stephen Kaluuya is said to have signed Daniel’s birth certificate before he disappeared from his life. According to a family source, Stephen wants to get in touch with his son Daniel. “Stephen just wants the truth to come out and says he could be the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle left in Daniel’s life,” the source said.

“Stephen saw Daniel as a newborn baby, but since then he has never met Daniel and doesn’t know how to get in touch with him. He keeps asking his friends for advice on how to contact Daniel. He has cousins in the US, where Daniel is becoming a big star, and they are putting pressure on him, too.”

Daniel Kaluuya has said how he was raised by his mother in a council flat in Camden, North London. Speaking about his upbringing he said: “My mom is from Uganda. She came to London to give birth to me. I lived in hostels until I was two years old, and then she got a home in Camden, where I grew up. She was on benefits for a long while, which is what Americans call welfare.

“Now, she works for a special needs school in Camden, which is the biggest drug market in Europe. It was where the Sex Pistols were born, as well as punk. Amy Winehouse lived there. It can be quite a dark place, because there are loads of drugs and all the drugs went into homes.” He said his mother “was strict, so she wanted me to get my grades. As long as I got the grades, I was thinking I could do whatever the fuck I liked.”
