Manuela Escobar: Early Age and Background
Manuela Escobar is the only daughter of Pablo Escobar, she was born on 25 May 1984 in Columbia, around the same time that Pablo Escobar was becoming one of the most powerful and feared drug kingpins in the whole wide world. While being the child of a notorious Colombian drug lord came with its good like getting all the presents you could want for your birthday, it was also rumored that once he burned $2 million to keep his little princess warm. Just like the advantages, it also comes with its disadvantages, this type of upbringing also came with several serious drawbacks.
At a young age, a bomb attack intended to kill her father got her instead, the attack reportedly left Manuela Escobar deaf in one ear. For that, she didn’t have a normal childhood like every other child and also suffered a rollercoaster life since childhood. At just nine years of age when her father, Pablo was gunned down in 1993 by the Colombian National Police. Luckily, she is the only member of her family who has never been accused of a single crime.
Despite her clean record, Manuela Escobar has never been able to escape the shadow and acts of her deceased father’s sins. Since she was just a child when her father became the “King of Cocaine,” the young lady probably didn’t know exactly what her father did for a living. But Manuela did know that her father would do anything to put a smile on her face and to keep her safe. She wasn’t her parents’ only child, Manuela had one older sibling, Juan Pablo, who was born in 1977.
Despite her father’s violent reputation, everybody knows he had a soft spot for his only daughter. And at the height of Pablo’s power, his Medellín drug Cartel brought in so much money, as much as $70 million per day. This meant that the then Billionaire was willing — and able — to buy just about anything that money can afford that his little “princess” wants to have.

When she was just a year old, Manuela Escobar asked her father for a unicorn. The father who was ready to provide anything for the daughter allegedly ordered his employees to buy a white horse and staple a “cow’s horn” onto its head and “wings” onto its back, instead of telling her that unicorns weren’t real or maybe find a better excuse. The animal later died of a severe infection.
when things got rough and Cocaine king’s life of crime began to catch up with him, he did whatever it took to keep his daughter safe and family safe. When the family was hiding out from the authorities in the mountains of Colombia in the early ’90s, he allegedly burned $2 million in cash — just to keep his daughter warm. Later in his battle with the authorities and enemies, the drug lord realized that his family would no longer be safe staying with him. So he instructed his wife, Maria Victoria Henao, to take their children to a safe house under government protection. In December 1993, Manuela Escobar’s father, Pablo Escobar was shot multiple times and died just as violently as he spent his life.
In an attempt to arrest him, Pablo Escobar wanted to escape across the barrio rooftops, this leads to a gun battle between Escobar and the Colombian police, and the drug lord was shot to his death.
Her father’s death is not where his family’s story ended. I must say it was the beginning for little Manuela. After their father, Manuela Escobar, her brother Juan Pablo, and her mother Maria Victoria Henao all quickly fled Colombia, they knew they would no longer be safe in their own country. They wanted to flee but no country granted them asylum because of the crimes of her father, they even petitioned the Vatican for help with the Cali Cartel on their tails demanding millions of dollars in compensation for Escobar’s crimes against them.
Manuela Escobar her brother, and mother tried to seek refuge in some African countries like Mozambique, South Africa, and South America like Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil, before finally settling in Argentina in late 1994 — under assumed names and tried to live a normal life. For some time it seemed like their past was behind them. The little girl was so attached to her father that she was said to go to sleep with the father, Pablo’s shirt. Manuela Escobar also used to keep a piece of beard under her pillow for the dad. In Argentina, she started going to school with her brother while her mother gradually became a successful real estate entrepreneur.
In 1999, the past once again caught up again, Maria Victoria Henao ( “Victoria Henao Vallejos”) and Juan Pablo ( “Sebastián Marroquín”) were suddenly arrested. Manuela Escobar’s mother and brother had been accused of falsifying a public document, money laundering, and illicit association. Henao was tracked down, incarcerated for one and a half years while her funds were investigated.
After being taken into custody for several months, they were released due to insufficient evidence. However, many people had questions about their arrest — especially since Manuela Escobar was still a little girl and had apparently never spent a day in jail. So where in the world was Manuela when her brother and mother were picked up? Staying with a neighbor?
Unfortunately, everything changed after her mother and brother got arrested. Though they were released later, she and surviving family members soon began to live in fear of someone coming after her relatives and seeking revenge on them because of her father’s crimes. Manuela Escobar also sank into a deep depression.
Her strong mother and brother slowly re-entered the spotlight. Both of them have written books and granted interviews freely to the press about their personal lives with Pablo Escobar. But Manuela has refused to participate at all. To this day, she remains in hiding despite never committing or being arrested for a crime.
Where is Pablo Escobar’s daughter Manuela? what happened to her?
Pablo Escobar’s daughter, Manuela was just nine years old when her father was killed. And for the most part, she has maintained an exceptionally low profile since then. As we said earlier she is the only member of the Escobar family who has never been accused of or implicated in any crimes. Well, You can arrest a kid for requesting a unicorn from her rich drug lord father.
