Criticism of Joyce Patton’s fried chicken recipe

A while ago, Netizens decended on Paula about the way in which she cooked her mother’s signature dish. “I’m going to make my mom’s famous fried chicken,” she says in the video, referring to her mother Joyce Vanraden. The actress who donned an apron and demonstrated her mother’s fried chicken recipe recieved lots of clap backs for her method of cooking.

During the cooking process, the actress washed the raw chicken in cold water, before dipping it in flour and placing it in a heated frying pan. Paula did not add seasoning until the chicken was already cooking, something social media users say is a mistake. One Twitter user wrote: “Paula Patton seasoned the chicken while it was in the grease.”

“It’s all okay since everyone has their way of doing things,” Paula said in another Instagram post on April 5. “And I’ll listen to recommendations, I’ll make a new type of fried chicken, but I’ll always cook my mother’s chicken the way she made it.”
