José Domínguez Prieto fell ill in late 2007. He died on February 2, 2008, at age 87, at his son Antonio Banderas’ home in the Malaga town of Marbella after a long illness. He was cremated at the Virgen del Carmen Cemetery, in the coastal town.
At the time José Domínguez Prieto died, he was surrounded by his family. José’s wife Ana Banderas died on November 4, 2017, at the age of 84 years. Son Antonio Banderas publicly announced his mother’s death on social media.
Antonio shared a vintage black-and-white photo of her on Twitter and captioned the photo with a tribute written in Spanish: “At six o’clock this morning our mother Ana Bandera Gallego has left us forever, he wrote. May God have her in the place she deserves.
