Well, the Los Angeles Times reported that Sandy has severed ties with the News Corp.-owned Los Angeles Dodgers because of the gossip. After a turn of events, New York Post apologized for the act and retracted the gossip.
Their apology statement said, “A two-sentence blind item we ran here on Dec. 19 about a ‘Hall of Fame baseball hero’ has sparked a series of unfortunate consequences for which we are very sorry. … The author has denied making any deal with Koufax and called our item ‘erroneous.’ We apologize to both Koufax and Leavy for getting it wrong”.
Another newspaper linked Sandy Koufax to the Post item and ran a photo of him. The Post said, Koufax, “an intensely private man, was deeply offended by our item”. In comments to the Los Angeles Times published Friday, Jane Leavy called the Post item “thoroughly erroneous on all counts.”
“(The item) was blatantly unfair, scandalous, and contemptible,” Leavy said. “It was thoroughly without basis in so far as it had to do with Sandy or any relationship I had with him professionally. It’s not the kind of journalism I practice.”
Jane Purucker Clarke’s husband, Koufax revealed to the Dodgers that he would no longer attend spring training at Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Fla., visit Dodger Stadium or participate in any activities while they are owned by News Corp. Sandy whose 12-year playing career with the Dodgers ended in 1966, has worked regularly with pitchers during the exhibition season.

Derrick Hall, a Dodgers senior vice president, and Sandy Koufax’s friend said Sandy would feel foolish promoting a News Corp. property, Hall said. Derrick said Sandy stressed: “I have no problems with the Dodgers or their current or previous management. It’s more so about (News Corp.).”
Derrick Hall, speaking on behalf of Dodgers chairman Bob Daly and president Bob Graziano, told the Daily News of Los Angeles and the Times that the Post item was “irresponsible and inappropriate” and said they supported Koufax’s position.
