María Luisa and Infante got married on 19 July 1939 in Guamúchil, Salvador Alvarado, Sinaloa, Mexico. They married in a beautiful ceremony in the presence of their friends, family, and loved ones. María Luisa and Pedro Infante could not have biological children because she was barren. Due to this, the couple decided to adopt one of Pedro’s nieces, Dora Luisa.

Dora Luisa was one of Infante’s sisters, Carmela. Pedro Infante died in a Plane crash

Infante though a musician and actor had an aviation hobby, logging 2,989 flight hours, under the pseudonym Captain Cruz, which then led to his death on the morning of 15 April 1957. Infante had survived two prior plane crashes. On the day of the crash, María Luisa León’s ex-husband was on his way to Mexico City from Mérida, Yucatán to challenge the ruling that annulled his marriage with Irma Dorantes.

The plane crashed five minutes after taking off from Mérida, Yucatán, in southeast Mexico. The cause of the crash was reported to be an engine failure. This caused the plane to spiral to the ground, killing two people on the ground as well as all the two people on the plane with Infante.
