Jamie Newton Melanie was born in Zambia, southern Africa, the son of Zimbabwean mother Nyasha Jombe and English father Nick Newton. His mother was a member of a Shona chieftaincy family, she is Zimbabwean princess of the Shona tribe. His father worked as a laboratory technician and artist. 

His parents lived in Zambia, and his sister Thandiwe was born while their parents were back in England to visit relatives; they then returned to Zambia, where he was born. This has led her sister’s birthplace to be incorrectly reported as Zambia in some sources, but she has confirmed in interviews that she was born in Westminster while Jamie was born in Zambia.

The actress Thandie Newton (answers): “‘Actually I don’t know how my mum and dad managed to do this. But we lived in Zambia, and my mum was pregnant with me. And I was born on a two-week trip back to London, and then we went back to Zambia and my brother was born there. And we ended up coming to England finally when I was three years old. So my dad could help out with the family antique business.“

Thandie Newton and her sibling has been spotted in public domain on avrious occasions. The two was pictured linking arms as they stepped in North London. The Hollywood actress kept things casual in an orange top with a knot which she teamed up with a pair of khaki joggers and a matching beanie hat. 

Continuing her look with a navy blazer, she sported yellow sneakers and accessorised with a grey scarf, while strolling through the town with her sibling. Jamie Newton on the other hand also cut a low-key figure in a grey T-shirt which he layered beneath a navy gilet and orange shorts, while donning striped socks and orange Converses.

Jamie Newton’s sister was married to English filmmaker Ol Parker in 1998 and Jamie is a proud Uncle. Thandiwe and Parker have two daughters named Ripley (born 2000) and Nico (born 2004), and a son named Booker (born 2014). All three were home births.
