American actress Barbara Rush won the Golden Globe Award as most promising female newcomer for her role in the 1953 American science-fiction film It Came from Outer Space. Although the beautiful brunette won her first leading roles in such Paramount films as “The First Legion” (1951), Rush gained much public attention for her role as Joan, the woman who loves Paul Newman even after he chooses a job over her hand in marriage, in “The Young Philadelphians” (1959), and also starring opposite Frank Sinatra in “Come Blow Your Horn” (1963).

The It Came from Outer Space actress met her first husband, Jeffery Hunter before he became a huge name in the industry. The incredibly handsome newcomer Hunter would later become a “beefcake” bobbysoxer idol over at Fox. From 1942 to 1944, he acted in North Shore Children’s theater productions as a teenager and starred with the local Port Players.
The two fell in love quickly and tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in December 1950. Soon, they were on their way to becoming one of Hollywood’s most beautiful and photogenic young couples. Barbara Rush and Jeffery Hunter had a son Christopher Hunter. Their son Christopher was born in 1952. they divorced in 1955, they were married for only five years before things took a different turn.
After her marriage with Hunter failed, Barbara Rush moved on with her life and walk down the aisle with publicist Warren Cowan on June 14, 1959. Rush and Cowan had one child, a daughter Claudia Cowan. Rush and Cowan’s marriage came to an end on August 29, 1969. Rush married her third husband, sculptor Jim Gruzalski in 1970 after they met at an Engelbert Humperdinck concert. They divorced in 1973. Barbara Rush didn’t have any children with Gruzalski.

He is a film editor and actor following in the footsteps of his parents. Claudia Cowan was born on July 31, 1963. As of 2023, she is 60 years old and works as a journalist for Fox News and worked as a KRON-TV reporter. Barbara Rush’s daughter started her career at KTTV-TV in Los Angeles and worked her way up from a messenger to an on-air reporter. In 2019, Rush’s daughter was a senior correspondent for Fox News.
Claudia Cowan is a married woman. In January 2012, “SF Gate” reported that Rush’s daughter Claudia got married to San Francisco sports agent Steve Baker. Through her children, Barabra Rush is also a grandmother. Claudia shared throwback and current photos of her two children, Rush’s grandchildren on Instagram on February 2021. The twins, Ben and Sabrina are in their twenties.
Claudia’s father Warren Cowan died on May 14, 2008, of cancer at his home in Los Angeles. Rush’s ex-husband was buried at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery. Chris Hunter’s father Jeffrey also passed on at Valley Hospital on the morning of May 27, 1969, at the age of 42, after having brain surgery for a head injury caused by a fall downstairs. He was found in his Van Nuys home unconscious with a swollen eye by a friend who rushed him to the hospital.
