Fred Tillman is an American restaurateur and also the ex-husband of Kelly McGillis. Fred Tillman’s ex-wife McGillis was once one of Hollywood’s most desirable leading ladies. She is known for her film roles such as Rachel Lapp in Witness, for which she received Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations; Charlie in Top Gun; Made in Heaven; The House on Carroll Street; and as Kathryn Murphy in The Accused.

Kelly McGillis and her ex-husband Fred Tillman were married for 12 years(m. 1989–2002). According to some sources, they dated for 1 year after getting together in 1988 and married on 15th Jan 1989. 12 years after they tied the knot they divorced in 2002. They had 2 children, Kelsey Tillman(32) and Sonora Ashley Tilman(29).

Fred Tillman was not the first man she got married to. McGillis married fellow Juilliard student Boyd Black in 1979; the couple divorced in 1981. According to sources, she thought getting married could win her parents’ approval after her parents kicked her out aged 17- something she has since said was “the best thing they could have ever done for me”.. Their relationship didn’t stand the test of time, and they parted ways amicably in 1981.

That same year after divorcing her first husband, McGillis was robbed at gunpoint. Things took a much more difficult turn in 1982. In 1982 Kelly began dating a woman and they moved into a flat together. Two teenagers broke into her home and raped them at knifepoint. Although they said they would kill her, a neighbor called the police, and after hearing the officers’ bangs on the door, they ran away.

After the incident, the actress could identify both criminals (15-year-old Leroy Johnson – who was on the run from juvenile detention- The identity of the other boy was never made public.), and they were taken to prison. It is important to point out that the main attacker spent only three years behind bars.

Kelly quit Hollywood to marry Fred Tillman. The Top Gun actress made the big decision to walk away from her glittering film career to get married and start a family. She wed Fred Tillman, a rich yacht salesman, in 1989. The couple tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in the presence of their friend, family, and loved ones. The couple moved to Key West Florida, where they opened a restaurant called Kelly’s. The November after their marriage, the couple made headlines after announcing she was expecting her first child.

Kelly McGillis and her ex-husband Fred Tilman went on to give birth to two children – Kelsey Tillman, age 31, and Sonora Tillman, age 29 as of 2022. McGillis’ life started to unravel again when, just four days after giving birth to her youngest Sonora, her husband Tillman was arrested and fined $250 for propositioning a prostitute, who turned out to be an undercover policewoman.

Tillman and McGillis called their marriage quit in 2002 after being married for 12 years. McGillis moved on very quickly. At her and her husband’s restaurant, McGillis met bartender Melanie Leis. Although the two hit it off relatively quickly, theirs wasn’t the healthiest relationship as they would often drink and abuse drugs. McGillis only came out in 2009, but she once said she’d been a lesbian most of her life.

In September 2010, McGillis and Leis tied the knot in New Jersey after getting sober. Kelly McGillis and her third spouse also broke up in 2011, and it is unclear if the actress is dating someone else.
