Six months before Francine’s death, her elder half-sister Celia Valli also tragically passed away from an accident. Rick Elice, Jersey Boys writer told Vegas Seven in an interview that he didn’t include Celia’s death in the musical because “if you put that in the show, no one would believe it. It would be too horrible and seem like it was fiction.” Frankie told Billboard in a 2013 interview that losing a child was “not something you ever, ever get over. It’s just not supposed to be that way.” Francine Valli’s mother Mary Mandel also died on May 10, 2007.
