Speaking to some Fisherfolks, they have explained that, foreigners have taken captive of some part of the sea.

According to some Fishermen, the Chinese have used their net to divide the sea blocking the fishes from surfacing.

However, some stated that they find difficulties in paddling their canoes so they suggest a Machine should be provided to them.

Also, they have complained that some Fishermen practice light fishing which is destroying the fishing business.

Light Fishing is a type of fishing aid where fishermen used lights mostly at night, in their fishing gear to attract the target species.
It is known that light attracts fishes .

Some Fishermen use lights in fishing causing the fishes to move where Fishermen can’t go fishing with their canoes.

They added that the prices of the tools used in fishing are very expensive.

They have complained that although the price of fuel is constant, the quantity is not enough.
“With 70 gallons of fuel, the canoe is able to go on the sea only twice “, one fisherman said.

This is the job they also do to provide for their families.
The sector is also nationally important in terms of employment.

They are pleading with the fisheries minister _designate Hawa Koomson to intervain in order to lift the fishing business.

They have also suggested that there should be a relationship between the Fishermen and the government, so that the fishing business can move forward.

They also require technical and management training as well as support services from government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
