Eric’s son Boris Kodjoe is a German actor and former model best known for his role as Kelby in the 2002 film Brown Sugar. He is also known as Damon Carter in Soul Food, Dr. Will Campbell in Code Black, and a recurring character on FOX’s The Last Man on Earth.

Who Is Eric Kodjoe, Boris Kodjoe’s Father?

Eric Kodjoe is a Ghanaian physician and the father of Boris Kodjoe. He was born on 30 December 1938. He is the son of Chief of Police Joseph Cecil Ofuatey-Kodjoe and Elsie Ofuatey-Kodjoe. His mother was unable to see. She had gone blind from a cataract and left untreated. Eric is a Ghanaian who migrated to the US for greener pastures.

Eric Kodjoe faced some difficulties establishing himself. His skin color didn’t favor him and he had to put up with endless racial slurs and racially driven abuse even as the anesthesiology head at his hospital. He made several contributions through his medical services. Doctors questioned his abilities and even patients refused to be examined by him.

Even with the treatment he received from people, Eric Kodjoe kept helping and saving lives. Eric met and got married to Ursula Kodjoe, a German psychologist of partially Jewish descent. Details of their relationship are unknown. How they met each other for the first time is a mystery. Also, when and where they got married is unknown.

Eric Kodjoe and Ursula Kodjoe gave birth to four children. Their children are Patrick Kodjoe, Nadja Kodjoe, Lara Kodjoe, and Boris Kodjoe. For some unknown reasons, Eric and Ursula got divorced in 1979. At the time Boris Kodjoe was six years old when his parents divorced. After his parents separated, Boris began his estranged relationship with his father.

However, Eric Kodjoe and his son Boris Kodjoe were able to patch things up. Boris visited his father’s homeland, Ghana. He visited Ghana to reconnect with his family, and to let his children experience Ghana for the first time. Sharing a series of pictures on his Instagram page, he wrote:

On my last day in Accra, I got to see my family, reunite with cousins I hadn’t seen in 20 years, meet others for the first time, and introduce my children to people they only had heard stories about. It was a fitting ending to an amazing stay in Ghana.

And as I was surrounded by my family I noticed some very old pictures of my grandmother hanging on the wall. She passed 25 years ago but I remember her vividly sitting in her room commenting on my outfits when I was 10, or telling me to make funny faces and then laughing at them, which left me amazed because she was blind.

He went on to write-“Mrs. Elsie Ofuatey-Kodjoe was born on December 5th 1901. She was very active in government and even started the Girl Guides in Ghana to help girls and young women develop their potential and become outspoken citizens of society who fight for equality, inclusion, and parity across gender lines.”

Boris Kodjoe also added- “She was a beautiful, strong, proactive trailblazer, who was one of my grandfather’s three wives, a friend of the honorable Kwame Nkrumah, who has her own stamp, and who takes portraits with a sheep. 🐑 We honored her today by being together and remembering those family members who had passed. It was a great day.

What Happened To Boris Kodjoe’s Father?

Boris Kodjoe’s father Eric Kodjoe died in April 2016. He died at the age of 78 years. The cause of his death is unknown. His son Boris Kodjoe confirmed the news on social media. On his Instagram page, on April 21, 2016, he shared a photo of himself and his father and wrote:
