Doris Jean Couser was born on 26 June 1930, in Atascosa County, Texas, USA. William Roy Couser and Lela Fountain Franks Couser were her parents. She was the sister of William Franks Couser and George Alford Couser. She was married twice to John Byron Strait Sr. (January 11, 1922 – June 4, 2013) and Paul Malcolm Lieber.
Doris and John Byron Strait Sr’s marriage produced two sons and a daughter. Things didn’t work out between the two and they got divorced. Doris moved away with her daughter Pency and left her two sons George Harvey Strait Sr and John Byron “Buddy” Strait Jr. (1950–2009) to be raised by their father. Doris moved on with her life and remarried.
Doris Couser Strait married Paul Malcolm Lieber. Her husband was the vice president and sales manager of Global Industries Inc. of Maple Shade. He had served 23 years in the armed forces, starting in the U.S. Marine Corps and then transferring to the U.S. Army, from which he retired as a chief warrant officer. He was the first president of the Warrant Officers Association.
Doris and Paul became parents of Roy Lieber and Leslie Neely. Doris was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. She was also an Antique Dealer with Alley’s Attic in Lawrenceville. Her two sons Buddy and George Strait spent most of their early lives ranching alongside their father John Byron Strait Sr. John Sr raised the two boys as a single father.
Doris’ son George Strait enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. He served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1975 and ultimately attained the rank of Corporal. Doris’ son John Byron “Buddy” Strait Jr. died on April 10, 2009, at the age of 58. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pearsall, Texas. He was buried at Big Wells Cemetery, Big Wells, Dimmit County, Texas, USA.

Doris Couser Strait died on 30 January 2010, at age 79, in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia, USA. The cause of her death is unknown. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul Malcolm Lieber, granddaughter, Jenifer Lyn Strait, and son, John B Strait Jr. She is survived by her Children: Roy Lieber, Leslie Neely, George Strait, and Pency Edel, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
