Don Cobain also known as Donald Leland Cobain was brought into the world in the year 1946. In 2023, he will be celebrating his 77 birthday. He is the son of Leland Elmer Cobain and Iris Maxine Labrot. He may have siblings but there isn’t much information about them at the moment.

Don Cobain has kept most details of his early life away from publicity. He worked as an automotive mechanic. He fell in love with a woman named Wendy Elizabeth Cobain (née Fradenburg), who worked as a waitress. They married in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on July 31, 1965.

Don Cobain and his then-wife Wendy Cobain welcomed two children. They had a son and a daughter while they were married. Their son Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20, 1967, and their daughter Kimberly ‘Kim’ Cobain was born on April 24, 1970.

In 1976, Don Cobain and Wendy Cobain decided to end their marriage after more than a decade of being husband and wife. Their son Kurt Cobain was nine years old when the divorce happened. He was very affected by it and his personality changed from being a happy and excitable child to being defiant and withdrawn.

Kurt Cobain once mentioned that he felt “ashamed” of his parents as a child, and had desperately wanted to have a “typical family … I wanted that security, so I resented my parents for quite a few years because of that.” Don Cobain and Wendy Cobain found new lovers after their separation.

Don Cobain married Jenny Westeby. He, his wife, his son Kurt Cobain and Jenny’s two children, Mindy and James, moved into a new household. Don and Jenny later welcomed a son Chad Cobain. Kurt’s behavior led his father Don to take him to a therapist and there was a demand for his parents to reunite but that didn’t work out.

Don Cobain was granted full custody of Kurt Cobain by his ex-wife Wendy. Kurt ended up in the care of his family and friends because of his disobedience. After living with friends and being homeless, Kurt eventually could afford an apartment, paying his rent by working at the Polynesian Resort.

Kurt Cobain formed the band Nirvana alongside Krist Novoselic and Aaron Burckhard. Don Cobain was featured in the 2015 documentary film about Kurt Cobain, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck. Don Cobain used to live in a small town in northern Washington but it is unknown if he still lives there or has relocated. He refuses to speak about his famous son, Kurt Cobain.

What Happened To His Son?

Don Cobain’s son Kurt Cobain was 27 years old when he killed himself with a shotgun. On April 8, 1994, he was found dead in his Seattle home and the police concluded he had died on April 5 from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. There was a suicide note found and a high concentration of heroin and traces of diazepam were also found in his body.

Kurt Cobain’s death was officially ruled a suicide but some aspects of his death have led to speculation that he was murdered. He is believed to have had entirely too much heroin in his system at the time of his death to have been able to operate a shotgun as he would have been incapacitated within seconds of injecting it.

After Kurt Cobain’s death, different musicians recorded tribute songs to him: R.E.M.’s Let Me In, Patti Smith’s About a Boy, Foo Fighters My Hero, Neil Young’s Sleeps with Angels, Tearjerker by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Shotgun Suicide by El Duce. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
