Coy Denver Parton was born on August 16, 1943, in Tennessee, U.S. He will be celebrating his 80th birthday on August 16, 2023. His parents are Avie Lee Caroline (née Owens; 1923–2003) and Robert Lee Parton Sr. (1921–2000). His mother was a housewife while his father was a tobacco farmer who did construction jobs on the side.

Coy Denver Parton is one of the 12 children of his parents. His 11 siblings are Willadeene Parton, Stella Mae Parton, Dolly Rebecca Parton, Randel Huston “Randy” Parton, Rachel Ann Parton (Rachel Dennison), twins Floyd Estel Parton, and Freida Estelle Parton, David Wilburn Parton, Larry Gerald Parton, Cassie Nan Parton, and Robert Lee Parton Jr.
