He is a product of the affair between Eric Clapton and Lory Del Santo. His mother is an Italian TV personality, actress, producer, and model. His father is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter.

Conor Clapton’s parents were never married. He is the only child of his parents. He has half-siblings from both parents’ sides. Julie Rose Clapton, Sophie Belle Clapton, Ella May Clapton, and Ruth Clapton are Conor’s half-siblings from his father’s side. Loren Del Santo and Devin Sardi are his half-siblings from his mother’s side.

Loren Del Santo killed himself in August 2018 at the age of 19 years after long suffering from anhedonia, a psychiatric illness. It is a disease that prevents those affected from experiencing pleasure, feelings, or emotions of any kind. After Loren’s death, his mother Lory said:

“Loren’s death is also a problem of nature. He was by no means a frail boy. He had a congenital disease that developed over the years. What we thought were characteristics of his personality were characteristics of his illness that I did not know about. Now I understand immediately who suffers from it. This thing did not affect him physically: he was an athlete, no defects, he has never seen a doctor .”

Unfortunately for Conor Clapton, his life was cut short and he was unable to achieve a lot of things. He didn’t get the opportunity to complete his education, grow up and get a well-paid job, get married and have a family of his own, among other things.

How Did Eric Clapton’s son Conor Clapton Die?

Conor Clapton, the son of Eric Clapton and Lory Del Santo die after falling out of an open bedroom window on the 53rd floor of a Manhattan apartment building. He died at age four on 20 March 1991. Per Daily Mail, Conor was left in the care of his nanny while his mother was in the bathroom. Recalling the last seconds of her son’s death, Lory Del Santo said:

“I heard the nanny and she was running right behind him. But as Conor run into the room where the janitor was cleaning, the janitor stopped her to tell her that he had slid open the window – a huge wall of glass. In the second she stopped to listen to what he was saying, Conor ran straight through the window. I heard a dreadful scream but it wasn’t Conor. It was the nanny, I ran into the room.”

On that day, Conor and his father Eric were going out. The father and son planned to visit the Bronx Zoo, followed by lunch at an Italian restaurant. Lory Del Santo phoned Eric Clapton about the death of their son and he couldn’t believe it. All Eric could say at the moment was: ‘Are you sure?’ Conor was buried at St Mary Magdalen Churchyard, in Ripley, Guildford Borough, Surrey, England. His death inspired his father to write the Grammy-winning song, “Tears in Heaven.”

Conor Clapton Helped His Father Get Sober

Conor Clapton was just a little boy but he has received credit for helping his famous father Eric Clapton get sober. According to Eric, Conor is one of the main reasons he became and remains sober after years of battling alcohol and drug abuse. “I really did it for Conor because I thought, no matter what kind of human being I was, I couldn’t stand being around him like that,” Eric Clapton writes in his 2007 memoir Clapton: The Autobiography. “I couldn’t bear the idea that, as he experienced enough of life to form a picture of me, it would be a picture of the man I was then.”
