Unfortunately, Bonnie Mayall’s father Rik Mayall took his last breath on 9 June 2014, at his home in Barnes, Richmond-upon-Thames, London. He died of a sudden heart attack after a morning jog. He was 56 years old at the time he died. Bonnie paid tribute to her father. She wrote on Facebook:

“My dad was loved not only by my family, but by many many others. We will never forget him and neither will the world. R.I.P to the man, the myth, the legend – my wonderful, generous, foul mouthed and hysterical father. My idol now and forever. We love you daddy.”

It was on 19 June 2014, at St. George’s Church in Dittisham, Devon that Bonnie Mayall’s father Rik Mayall’s funeral happened. He was laid to rest at the Mayall Family Farm Grounds, East Allington, South Hams District, Devon, England, according to Findagrave.

A spokesman for the family said: “It is a terrible shock. All we know at this stage is that Rik died at home. We are all deeply saddened by this news, from the enormous number of fans Rik had, to those who worked with him and knew him as a man as well as a fine actor. He touched many lives, and always for the better.”

Reza Begad, chairman of the Harrodian school in Barnes, where Bonnie Mayall attended said: “The family is trying to cope but it has been a terrible unexpected thing for them. Rik was a wonderful friend of the school. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he was a truly humble, decent person.”

“He volunteered for everything and was such a lovely man. It was hard to believe his on-screen persona was the same person.” He added at the time that “Bonnie is still at our school and studying for her exams, It is what her father would have wanted.”

Meanwhile, before Rik Mayall’s death, he nearly died after he crashed a quad bike near his home in Devon, on 9 April 1998 and was injured. He was airlifted to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital, with two hematomas and a fractured skull. He was in a coma for five days before regaining consciousness.
