Alexander Serpico was born on March 15, 1980, in New York City, New York, USA. He was born out of Wedlock to an unknown mother even though the former cop said the child’s mother had told him she was using contraception (an allegation she denied, but her friend testified against her). According to The Newyork times report, Serpico lost a battle over child support in a court of appeals.

The tribunal, the Court of Appeals, determined unanimously that the ”mother’s alleged deceit has no bearing upon” Mr. Serpico’s obligation to support his son- Alexander Serpico. The court ordered Mr. Serpico – who according to reports identified in court papers as ”Frank S.” – to continue making $945-a-month support payments for his son, retroactive to June 27, 1980.

Frank Serpico’s son, Alexander graduated from the School of Visual Arts and worked as a film editor specializing in movie trailers, television promos, and commercials. According to his IMDB, he was an editor and producer, known for Dark Planet (1998), End-Transmission (2000), and Speed Mating (2019). He also worked as an editor on NBC’s Saturday Night Live between 2009-2014. 

How did Frank Serpico’s son Alexander die?

According to Dailymail, the son of legendary New York City police whistleblower, Frank Serpico was found dead inside his Manhattan apartment on May 10, 2021. Alexander Serpico was 41 years old at the time of his death. According to the reports, the police were called on that Monday afternoon to a luxury condominium building in the heart of the Financial District, where they discovered Alexander Serpico unresponsive. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The cause of Alexander’s death is an apparent drug overdose. According to reports Drug paraphernalia was said to have been found near Serpico’s body in his apartment on the 21st floor at 75 Wall Street. Alexander was the only child of retired NYPD detective Frank Serpico. The police have not revealed how long Frank Serpico’s son had been dead before the apartment building manager accessed his unit and made the grim discovery, reported New York Daily News.  

Frank Serpico was played by Al Pacino in a 1973 film named after him. The anti-corruption crusader was shot on duty in 1971 but survived to testify before a panel investigating police grift.

On February 3, 1971, the hero cop found himself trapped in the doorway of a suspected drug den in Williamsburg, Brooklyn after they had received a tip that a drug deal was about to take place and was shot in the face. Two other officers on the scene with him ignored his pleas for help and refused to radio in ’10-13′ to indicate that an officer was in need of assistance. 

 An elderly man who lived in the next apartment called the emergency services, reporting that a man had been shot, and stayed with Serpico. The elder Serpico survived the shooting, which left him deaf in one ear, and went on to offer dramatic testimony before the city’s Knapp Commission, the special panel that investigated widespread police graft.
