David McCallum has been married two times to two different women. His five children are from both marriages. He was married to English actress and singer Jill Ireland, who he met while working on the film Hell Drivers. They were married on 11 May 1957, in London.

After ten years of marriage, they divorced on February 8, 1967. David and Jill had three sons: Paul McCallum, Valentine ‘Val’ McCallum, and Jason McCallum (who was adopted). After the divorce, David married Katherine Carpenter, a former actress and model on September 16, 1967.

They have a son, Peter McCallum, and a daughter, Sophie McCallum. David McCallum and Katherine Carpenter are still married. They have been married for more than 55 years. There is no sign of separation between the couple. They are enjoying a blissful married life.

David Mccallum’s Son, Val Is A Guitarist

David McCallum and Jill Ireland’s son Valentine Luke McCallum (b. 10 October 1963) also known as Val McCallum is a guitarist and singer-songwriter. Val has toured with and served as a studio musician for several popular entertainers including American rock musician, singer, and songwriter Jackson Browne.

Val McCallum released his first solo record, titled At the End of the Day. He is a member of the comic-country band, Jackshit. He co-wrote the song “Deal With It” with his mother Jill Ireland. He wrote the song “Rarebird” as a tribute to his mother, Jill Ireland who died of breast cancer on 18 May 1990, at age 54, in Malibu, California.

The song is on Val’s album, “At The End Of The Day”. Val worked as a composer in the films Murphy’s Law, Assassination, and Death Wish 4: The Crackdown. He served in the music department of films including The People Speak. He also appeared in ‘My Chauffeur’ and ‘Glenn Martin DDS’. He is married to Shelli McCallum.

David Mccallum’s Son, Jason Died In 1989

David McCallum and Jill Ireland adopted a son, Jason McCallum (b. 1963) shortly after he was born. Sadly, Jason died of an accidental drug overdose on November 7, 1989. He was found dead in his Laurel Canyon home. Jason had struggled with drug addiction and was undergoing medical treatments at the time he died.

Jason McCallum’s personal physician, Dr. Howard Mark said the last time he saw Jason he was lucid and “gave every evidence of being drug-free for some weeks.” Detective Don Kalash made it known that the Police found no sign of foul play. “We do not know the cause of death at this point. We will have to wait for an autopsy report,” he said.

An autopsy was conducted to find the actual cause of Jason’s death. Jason’s battle with drug addiction was even the subject of “Life Lines,” a book his mother Jill Ireland had written. His mother Jill said through a family spokesman:

“I hate drugs. Jason had shown signs of being on the road to recovery. The book meant a lot to Jason, and he hoped it would keep other young people from going through what he had gone through.”

David Mccallum’s Son, Paul Is An Actor

Paul McCallum, son of David McCallum and Jill Ireland followed in his parents’ footsteps. He became an actor. He appeared in Death Wish II as Ambulance Man. He played the role of a Lab Technician in 10 to Midnight. He appeared as Hog in Murphy’s Law, Billy in Act of Vengeance, and Sandy Ott in Assassination. He was a composer and music performer of Death Wish 4: The Crackdown. Paul is also a studio photographer.
