Yasmin Kerr is an American Actress and also the daughter of Chrissie Hynde. Yasmin Kerr’s mother Hynde is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She is a founding member and the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band the Pretenders, and one of the band’s two remaining original members alongside drummer Martin Chambers.

Yasmin Kerr’s father James Kerr is a Scottish singer and the lead singer of the rock band Simple Minds, becoming best known internationally for “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” (1985), which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. Other commercially successful singles include “Glittering Prize” (1982), “Someone Somewhere in Summertime” (1982), “Waterfront” (1983) and “Alive and Kicking” (1985), as well as the UK number one single “Belfast Child” (1989).

Hynde, lead singer of The Pretenders, was still going out with Ray Davies of The Kinks, the father of her eldest daughter, Natalie. Their relationship was tempestuous, to say the least, so it didn’t take much effort from Kerr to persuade Hynde to marry him.
But several days after tying the knot, the 25-year-old Scotsman, James Karr took off on a two-year world tour, leaving his already pregnant wife behind.
Once he returned, instead of staying by his family’s side in London, he went to Scotland with his band to write songs. And that was the end of their marriage. Hynde responded by taking eight years off the road and settled in Maida Vale to raise her children on her own.

Yasmin Kerr’s mother, Hynde formed the Pretenders in 1978 with Pete Farndon, James Honeyman-Scott and Chambers. She has also released a number of songs with other musicians including Frank Sinatra, Cher and UB40, and she released the solo album Stockholm in 2014. Hynde was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 as a member of the Pretenders. She performed at Live Aid in 1985.
She follows Vaishnavism, a branch of Hinduism, and travels to India once every year to further her studies.
According to Hynde, becoming a vegetarian was “the best thing that ever happened to me.” She claims to have developed a “disgust, almost contempt” for meat eaters, but has learned to “live and associate with [them] but never respected them.”
Yasmin Kerr’s mother is also an animal rights activist who supports PETA and the animal rights organization Viva! In 2002, she co-starred in the anti-fur trade organization Respect for Animals’ commercial ‘Fur and Against,’ alongside Jude Law, Paul McCartney, and others.
Hynde has publicly campaigned against Julian Assange’s extradition to the United States, and in February 2020 urged then-President Donald Trump to “set him free.”
